Visit our boathouse from Memorial Day through Labor Day, where you can rock away the hours of your family vacation on the porch, or let us outfit you with the perfect tackle and bait for a great day of fishing.

Fly and spin rods are available for rent and while you're in a Mallard Lake fishing area, no state fishing license is required.

Beginner Fly-Fishing Instructional Clinics

Fly-fishing is the best way to experience a classic fishing vacation in West Virginia - you know you've always wanted to learn! Our pros will instruct you in the proper equipment, fly selection and use, and casting - and you'll put your new skills to test on the water in this 1-hour beginner's clinic. This is the perfect group activity to round out your adventure at The Resort at Glade Springs, and we'll customize the instruction to fit your crew perfectly.

One Hour Fly-Fishing Clinic - $65 per person
Available daily at 8:00am

Clinic may be cancelled or delayed by the resort due to inclement weather.

Guided Fly-Fishing on Glade Creek

Enjoy a fully guided fishing experience on one of the most beautiful trout streams on the East Coast - Glade Creek. Our private stream is located on the grounds of the resort and is one of southern West Virginia's premiere and unspoiled fly-fishing locales. Meandering south to north through 2 1/2 miles of The Resort at Glade Springs and nestled 150 feet deep inside Glade Creek Gorge, our fishing area in Glade Creek is world class and features deep, long runs, isolated plunge pools, large boulders and quick drops, and abounds with numerous waterfalls and tributary falls. The creek is regularly stocked with Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout, varying in size from two to twelve pounds, ensuring a rewarding fly-fishing experience.

Fly-Fishing is seasonal and is available as weather and stream levels permit. Available time periods include mid-March through the end of May and late fall.

Fly-Fishing Equipment Rental - $50 per person
Includes 8 foot 6 weight fly rod, chest waders, vest, net and basic tackle box

Stream Rules:

  • Fly fishing only
  • Anglers must use a barbless hook
  • Catch and release only
  • No live bait is allowed in your possession while on the stream
  • No night fishing
  • Parking is allowed in designated areas only
  • Discard all trash in receptacles located in the parking lot
  • In case of emergency, dial 911 and then Glade Springs Security
  • The stream is patrolled on a regular basis. Trespassers will be prosecuted.

All anglers require a WV fishing license. License may be acquired at Anglers are welcome to bring their own equipment. Box lunches are available upon request.

Float and Fish Trips

Enjoy unforgettable fishing in West Virginia with a full or half-day float on the river, led by the experienced anglers at Pro River Outfitters. You'll reel in catch after catch from the comfort of cushioned seats on a custom-designed boat. Each boat holds two people plus your guide. Your equipment, lunch, and shuttle to and from the river are provided.
